The emergency generator system for Walter Library is currently not functioning properly and is off-line.
Facilities Management believes they have identified the problem with the back-up power for Walter and, after replacing a breaker in one of the vaults, their plan is to return the building to normal operation early Friday morning. To insure that the building is indeed operating as it should, they will need to do some electrical switching which will result in a couple of very brief electrical service interruptions to some parts of the building. If everything works as it should the interruptions will be no more than few seconds. If something doesn't work correctly, they will have electricians on site to transfer back and the interruption could last up to five minutes. They plan to complete this testing between 5:30 am - and 6:00 am tomorrow morning, Friday 5/11.
Please power down any non-essential equipment in Walter Library before the outage tomorrow morning if possible. If you have mission-critical equipment that needs sustained power during the half-hour, contact Facilities Management ASAP at 4-2900 (email@example.com).
