The network in Keller Hall will be upgraded next week as part of OIT's Next-Generation-Network (NGN) project. Keller Hall was originally scheduled to be upgraded in February of 2020, but OIT has now pushed the timeline up to August and we are doing our best to accommodate their new schedule.
KELLER HALL DATES: 8/15/2019 - 8/19/2019
OIT installs new network equipment alongside CSE-IT's private network equipment so the private LAN and the OIT network work side by side on or around.
While the work is underway, WiFi and NTS supported Etherjack connections may be disrupted.
Keller Hall has NTS supported Etherjacks in the classrooms, otherwise the majority of the network connections are on a private LAN run by CSEIT.
Wired network cuts in St. Paul, had a much smaller impact than originally anticipated and most conversions did not cause more than a few minutes of disruption for users in a building where work was being conducted. Unless users are streaming data/connections, they generally did not notice. Wired network upgrade work will happen during business hours, from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Migration to the new equipment will generally be performed in the morning hours. The project team does not expect to perform any building upgrades on weekends or holidays. Overtime work is not in scope.
Network disruptions that may affect classrooms will be conducted in the early morning hours to the best of our ability to minimize disruptions as much as possible. There will be possible interruptions so if you have classes or ongoing research, please prepare to plan activities for the upgrade period. Consider research and other running processes, classes, meetings with a video component, or events that may be affected. If you have specific processes, applications, etc - that you are concerned about during this period - please send an email to email@example.com immediately and someone will get in touch with you right away.
