Choose an SSH tool
Once you have a network connection (whether it is via modem, DSL, cable, etc) you can use a variety of programs to connect to the CSE UNIX machines. We do not allow non-secure connections; you must use a secure remote-access program such as SSH. The OpenSSH FAQ provides information about SSH and how to use it.
There are many different versions of SSH available. Some are commercial and some are free. There are a few links below to get you started. For information on graphical access via an SSH connection see our Graphical Access page.
Most linux/unix distributions come with SSH installed by default, if you are a platform that does not have SSH installed by default, check your software packages, or you can use OpenSSH.
